Godsmack – Voodoo lyrics
I'm not the one who's so far away
When I feel the snake bite into my veins
Never did I wanna be here again
And I don't remember why I came

Candles raise my desire
Why I'm so far away
No more meaning to my life
No more reason to stay
Freezing feeling,
Breathe in, breathe in
I'm coming back again

[Chorus:]

Hazing clouds rain on my head
Empty thoughts fill my ears
Find my shade by the moon light
Why my thoughts aren't so clear
Demons dreaming
Breathe in, breathe in
I'm coming back again

[Chorus x4]

Voodoo, voodoo, voodoo, voodoo.
[Repeat]

So far away...
I'm not the one who's so far away...
I'm not the one who's so far away...
I'm not the one who's so far away...

I think the song is an addiction to witch craft and other occult association .it's temptation s it's downfalls it's ups and downs the rush is like that of an electronic shock .he can't get away even if he runs and hides the allure the power is way too he can't be done with it it saved him in many ways

Not exactly. The writer, Sully, wrote this song after watching a movie involving Witchcraft and Voodoo. Sully, as far as I've heard, is some part wiccan, which is a very peaceful religion. Also, the whole "snake bite" line could come from the fact that when someone pushes a pin into a voodoo doll, it would feel like a snake bite to the affected target of the witchcraft. Yet he says he's "Not the one who's so far away when I feel the snake bite enter my veins." This could allude to being hogtied and forced to watch as the voodooists work their black magic, feeling the doll's pain as the witches push the needle through it's fabric. Yes, it could be related to a heroin addiction, but that's certainly not how Sully intended it to be; the entire band has been very open about the fact that they aren't drug users.

This song can really be cut to fit anything you apply to it. Yes, it could be about drugs. It could also be about love 2. Some say love can run through your veins, and I'm sure everyone knows the feeling of loving or wanting some 1 so bad they don't know why. I love this song. The writer probably ment it in the drug form, but I like 2 think of it from the love prospective.
