Mayday Parade – I'd Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About lyrics
And we both go, down together
We'd stay there forever
Just try to get up
And I'm sorry, this wasn't easy
When I asked you believed me, and never let go

Well I'm thinking of the worst things, that I could say to you
But a promise doesn't mean a thing, anymore
And this never will be right with me
And now you're trying desperately

But I'm, tongue-tied and terrified of what I'll say

And then we both go, down together
We may stay there forever
I'll just try to get up
And I'm sorry, this wasn't easy
When I asked you believed me, you never let go
But I let go

I could only sing you sad songs
And you could sing along
And you could see the melody, that's been calling out your wrongs
This never will be right with me
And now you're trying desperately
But I'm, tongue-tied and terrified of what I'll say

But I never told you everything
I'm losing hope and faded dreams
And every single memory, along the way

And then we both go, down together
We may stay there forever
Just try to get up
And I'm sorry, this wasn't easy
When I asked you believed me, you never let go
But I let go

And we both go, down together
And stay there forever
Just try to get up

And then we both go down together
We may stay there forever
Just try to get up
And I'm sorry, this wasn't easy
When I asked you believed me, you never let go
But I let go...

This is obviosally about Jason leaving the band because look at the title: "Id Hate To Be You Wen People Find Out What This Song Is About". This was probably there last song together before he left, and they pobably thought it was a break up song at first. It also says: "I could only sing you sad songs, and you could sing along." Talking about how he didn't feel right singing with them.

To me, this song is about losing someone very close to you. 'when I asked you believed me, you never let go, but I let go. ' I relate it to my situation with my best friend. She loved me. She never let go. But I did. She believed through everything. And I let go of what we had. And I'm "tongue-tied and terrified of what i'll say" to her if either of us try to make it right. That's what the song means to me.

While I have absolutely not one clue as to what it is about, I understand parts of it.
First, I thought it was a girl cheating on a guy but still really loving him. Then he finds out and has to let her go, even though he loves her, too.
Then, a few days later, I listened to it again and got something else.
A couple was too dependent on each other. And the guy realizes it, and he knows that the best thing for both of them would be to end it, even though it will hurt.
But I still can't really get a straight answer.

Personally, I think the meaning of this song is about a girl cheating on her boyfriend and he found out.
So here's the long story. I think that there is a couple and the girl was cheating on the guy, but when he finds out he's heartbroken because he loves her so much. And he doesn't know how to confront her cheating ways. But when he does, she promises that he will be the only one, but he doesn't trust her anymore.
I love this song though, it's amazing.

I think its about a gurl an a guy an he cheats on her an she finds out by people an things get all wired when he says sorry she says she forgives him an things arnt the same any more an she ffel like she still luvs him an she dnt wanna be just another face in the crowd that he chose from so she brakes it off with him an decides not to sing along with the songs on the radio anymore.

To be legit, I think it is a story about a depressed him/her who couldn't take it anymore.
When you read the chorus, you notice that it involves a relationship, but read "we'd stayed there forever. " personally to me it means that mason (he is our "i") life would not get any better. Although the other person(call her claire) was there with him through every step of the way, he couldn't go on. "i'll just try to get up" = is significant to mason's failure of strength. "we both go down together" = how they both failed.
(mason couldn't go on, and the claire couldn't save him).
Verse 2 explains how claire tried to help, but couldn't.
The bridge is the climax of mason's end.
Hope you enjoyed my opinion, maybe you can see my point of view. The "characters" I have chosen are not actual people. Just names I like: 3

There is more to this song than just a breakup or someone leaving the band. The opening words tell us that (eg "we both down together"). They imply that after this happens, they're both in trouble. Furthermore, the title suggests that the person being talked about will be in more trouble, when people find out what happened.
I'm thinking dude is dating a girl, cheats on his girl with her best friend. He wants to stop it (he's let go), she wants it to continue (she never lets go) or she's telling her friend what happened. If that happens, they both go down together; he's out a gf, but she's out the fling and the best friend.

Then again, it could be about the band. Jason could have written it, w/o the band really knowing what it was about - that would be genius. They sing it, take credit for writing it, then let's the world know how big a part he played in the band. Really, they should ask for him to come back, there songs aren't as good w/o him.
