Pierce The Veil – King For A Day lyrics
Vic:
Dare me to jump off of this Jersey bridge
Kellin:
I
bet you never had a Friday night like this
Vic:
Keep
it up keep it up lets raise our hands
Kellin:
I take a look up in the sky and I see red
Vic:
Red for the cancer, red for the wealthy,
Red for the drink that's mixed with suicide.
Kellin:
Everything
red.

Kellin:
Please
, won't you push me for the last time,
Lets scream until
there's nothing left
So sick of
playing, I don't want this anymore.
The thought of you is no fucking fun.
You want a martyr, I'll be one
Because enough's enough
,
We're done.

Vic:
You told
me, "think about it"
Well I did, now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore
I'm tired of begging
for the things that I want,
I'm over sleeping like a dog on the floor.

Vic:
The thing I
think I love
Will surely bring me pain
Intoxication, paranoia, and a lot of
fame
Three cheers for throwing up
Pubescent
drama queen
You make me sick, I make it worse by drinking late.

Kellin:
(Scream) Until there's nothing left
So sick of playing, I don't want to anymore
The thought of you is no fucking
fun
You want a martyr I'll be one
Because enough's enough we're done

Vic:
You told me, "think about it", well I did
Now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore
I'm tired of begging for the things that I want
I'm over sleeping like a dog on the floor.

Kellin:
Imagine living like a king someday.
A
single night without a ghost in the walls.
And if the bass shakes the earth underground
.

Vic & Kellin:
We'll start a new revolution NOW!

Vic:
(Alright here we go)
Hail Mary, forgive me
Blood for blood, hearts beating
Come at me, now this is war
Fuck with this new beat

Oh

Vic:
NOW!
Kellin:
Terror begins inside a bloodless vein
Vic:
I was just a product of the street youth rage
Kellin:
Born in this world without a voice or say

Vic:
Caught in the spokes with an abandoned brain
Kellin
:
I know you well but this ain't a game
Vic:
Blow the smoke in diamond shape
Vic & Kellin:
Dying is a gift so,
Just close your eyes and rest in peace

Vic:
You told me "think about it", well I did

Now I don't wanna feel a thing anymore
I'm tired of
begging for the things that I want
I'm
over sleeping like a dog on the floor.

Kellin:
Imagine
living like a king someday.
A single night without a ghost in the walls.
We are the shadows screaming take us now

Vic:
We'd rather die than live to rust on the ground
.
Shit

The song is totally a battle with "god". He feels for the dead souls and he sees and feels their pleads all around. He looks up at the sky and he sees blood shed by those who were taken by cancer, wealth, and those who took their own lives. He wants someone to kill him so that he can join the dead bc he's sick of playing: living. The thought of gods no f*****g fun and he's willing to be a martyr someone who is killed for their religious beliefs; and he's currently going against his by taking the deads side. He's negotiating for his death so he thought about it and he's decided death is the path for him because he's tired of begging for the things that he wants and doing nothing purposeful. The after life would be devine he thinks because he could join the great list souls. Being dead would be living the life of a king or luxury for him because he would no longer have to deal with the pain of the dead because he has joined them, and if the bass hits the earth underground that will awake the dead and they will start a revolution with the living. Bring the dead back to life is against religion so he's asking virgin marry to forgive him for starting this but this is now war. The attack and the bringing the dead back to life is explained in the bridge "now terror begins inside a bloodless vein... " zombies! You can tell he thinks highly of joing the dead souls because dying is a gift so close your eyes and rest in peace. This also signifies taking the livings lives for their own good. And the song ends with once again having death as the higher option because they are the shadows screaming take us now (back to the after life) they'd rather die to live to rust on the ground.

I think it's about commiting suicide. It says, "you told me think about it well I did. Now I don't want to feel a thing anymore". By saying that they don't want to feel a thing anymore, they're pretty much saying that they're done with living, and feeling pain. They're tired of just nothingness; being bullied, and being pushed around. Also, there are tons of references to suicide in the song.

In the music viddeo they are both bossed around by. Well the boss of the bank? I think they are working at. So from the music video view id say they are imagining being boss for the day and not taking any orders because to a company the boss is the king and no body questions the boss(king) so I think that's the point in the song.
(srry if its not a good description just a 14yr old ptv & sws fan_jess).

I think they are talking about a life they were hoping for when they wanted to be famous(imagine living like a king someday) and coming to realize that fame isn't all everyone expects it to be(I'm oversleeping like a dog on the floor, so sick of playing, I don't want to anymore). Dealing with crazy fans(the thing I think I love with surely brign me pain, pubescent drama queen, three cheers for throwing up) and in the end, how happy they will be to remembered when they are gone and their fans are still around(dying is a gift so close your eyes and rest in peace).

This song is about someone who is planning to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge because they are pushed around to the point of not wanting to take it anymore. They have been contemplating sucked for a while, and they want to go numb.
Then there is a part of the song where they describe a bulimic person who's doing it for the popularity (maybe them or a dead person?).
They ask God to forgive them for what they're about to do. There is a war raging in their head. "Hail Mary, forgive me
Blood for blood, hearts beating Come at me, now this is war!"
The protagonist is terrified about what is about to happen ("Now terror begins inside a bloodless vein"), but they are gone past the breaking point. They are ready. ("We'd rather die than live to rust on the ground"), and they jump. They change their mind, but too late ("Shit") .

Similar to what others said, this song has a specific meaning that could be said in any way and I will share my way of saying it.

I think this song is about a person who has built up so much stress, anger and so on.. to the point that they just cant handle it anymore, they don't need the stress or the anger, they fantasize about having everything just they way they want it, to be a king.

On the other hand, this song has several mentions of death such as "Dying is a gift so just close your eyes and rest in peace" as in death is better than living such a stressful life, death is a gift.

Forgive me if I got anything wrong, this is simply an opinion.

Here's every thing wrong with the music video. Jamie, Mike and Tony are the bank robbers. Kellin and Vic are the only ones with jobs. Herbert sexually harassed his assistant. Herbert didn't notice the robbers (Pierce The Veil) give the money to the tellers. No one called to report a robbery. Whrd news reported Herbert's story. Whrd news was in the do it now remember it later video. Reply with more things wrong I am curious so supply many.

I think it's just Kellin and Vic working at a bank with this annoying boss who bosses them around, and they finally find out a way to stop this boss from bossing them around too much (as in being more caring for his workers) so they pretend there is a robbing and they get as much money as they want and give money to all the workers and their selves, and they tie the boss up and pretend they r pointing a real gun at him although it is a water gun.

Sounds to me like this song is simply about someone who is tired of life and having a hard time (with relationships, suicidal thoughts etc). He's saying imagine living like a king, meaning imagine living in heaven like god (so he clearly wants to die). Saying that he's tired of begging for what he wants and doesn't want to feel anything anymore contributes to the whole concept of wanting to die. So all I'm all, I think this song in its entirety can be taken as someone wanting to commit suicide because life is rough and living like a king could be achieved by dieing and going to heaven, because supposedly those who die and go to heaven live like kings, like god.

This song is about a life sucking relationship. He is finally fed up with this woman who offers him nothing. He can't handle another day, and tells her, "Please push me for the last time." Begging her to set him off again so he can end it. The woman could possibly have a drinking problem, "intoxication, 3 cheers for throwing up etc. He wants so badly to have the relationship with her that he dreamed of, "Imagine living like a King someday," not having to put up with her and feeling good about himself. No longer having to beg for the things that he wants and how worthless she makes him feel. I think in the end he is so irate and she sets him off and he kills her. Dying is a gift so close your eyes and rest in peace. He is finally free to live like a king.
